Double
Negative
Question, No. 1:
Does a double negative equal a
positive ? Is that a grammatical fact, and if so, can you
provide me with a English term for it. I'm sure you know I'm
referring to 9TR56. Look for your reply ASAP.
Answer: "double
negative n. Grammar 1. A construction that
employs two negatives, especially to express a single
negation. Usage Note: Double or multiple negatives
are acceptably used when they combine to form an
affirmative: He cannot just do nothing (that is, ' he
must do something ')."—The
American Heritage Dictionary (definition).
In other instances,
a double negative can be used to employ a negative, but this
is not the case with
“Behold, I Make All Things New,” pg. 56:2.
Not in the
Bible?
Question, No. 2: /bigger>/fontfamily>
Is the teaching of “others” in the Bible? I was told
that if it was not in the Bible it cannot be a
true doctrine.
Answer: I would like to bring your
attention to the following subjects found in the
Bible which Bro. V. T. Houteff uses in reference to
“others”: The figure of the five wise virgins (Matthew
25), the first-fruit harvest, and the Judgment for the
Living in the house of God (1 Peter 4:17). See The
Answerer, No. 4, pg. 35:1; “Behold, I Make All
Things New,” pg. 56:2; Timely Greetings, Vol. 1,
No. 11, pg. 11. If these subjects and references are
not in the Bible then who ever told you that the the
teaching of "others" is not in the Bible is
correct.
Furthermore, the “Voice of God” plainly teaches us
that “the
Bible and the books of the Spirit of Prophecy being the
sole source of The Shepherd's Rod message, therefore
when the Rod is taught, the Bible and the Spirit of
Prophecy are taught.”—The Answerer, No.5, pg. 5
